It is a multidisciplinary peer-reviewed journal of interest to researchers from surgical, clinical practice and teaching, as well as from all the other health areas. The journal emphasizes and covers reports of clinical investigations or fundamental research of general interest to a broad range of researchers. Special attention is done to Scientific Initiation involving undergraduate students. The Journal of Surgical and Clinical Research also features review articles and special articles relating to educational research, or social issues of interest to the academic community. Authors can submit their articles in the continuous flux system. All <strong>submissions are free</strong>, meaning that no charge or fee are needed.</p> <p>The online appearance of&nbsp;<em>Journal of Surgical and Clinical Research</em>&nbsp;allows the immediate https://periodicos.ufrn.br/jscr/article/view/34976 <p><strong>Objective:</strong> This review aims to provide an update on the recent advances in the diagnosis, biomarkers, chemotherapy and&nbsp; surgical treatment of gastric câncer (GC). <strong>Methods:</strong> For the preparation of this review, the authors used the PubMed, Embase and SciELO data-bases. The following keywords were used: gastric cancer, risk factors, epidemiology, biomarkers, chemotherapy, gastrectomy, lymphadenectomy, multimodal treatment. <strong>Conclusion:</strong> This review includes comments regarding classification, risk factors, epidemiology of gastric câncer, diagnostic, surgery and multimodal treatment. Besides the advances in the management of GC, currently, patients with early and advanced gastric cancer are still mainly treated by surgery, (D-2 gastrectomy) combined with chemotherapy and chemoradiotherapy, as well as targeting therapy to improve surgical treatment.</p> <p><strong>Key-words:</strong> Gastric câncer. risk factors.
