Introduction: The search for an aesthetic standard imposed by society, and the dissatisfaction with color and shape of the dental elements, leads to an increase in the
demand for restorative aesthetic treatments. With the advance of the restorative techniques and materials, the composite resins have made possible minimum wear and greater preservation of the dental structure, besides its capacity to mimic the characteristics of the natural teeth. Objective: To report through a clinical case the need and importance of the retreatment of unsatisfactory direct veneers restoring aesthetics and function to the patient, based on digital planning. Case description: A 45 year old female patient sought treatment at Clínica Escola de Odontologia Uninassau for being dissatisfied with the veneers on her upper anterior teeth. After clinical, radiographic and photographic analysis and the 3D model obtained after intraoral scanning, the planning was defined and approved. Then the resins were selected and the need to use an opacifying resin to mask the darkened substrate was seen. In this report a silicone palatal guide was made from the 3D model for the construction of the palatal shell. Conclusions: It can be concluded that the retreatment of composite resin veneers is indicated for smile disharmonies, due to their color and shape, and it has been shown to be very efficient for reestablishing function, health and aesthetics, and consequently contributing positively to improve the patient's self-esteem. It is also possible to notice that digital planning enables the achievement of excellent results, as well as greater predictability and practicality for clinical cases.
