Resumo

Objective: To evaluate the available evidence regarding the dental management of patients receiving antiplatelet therapy. Methods: An integrative review was conducted through searches in PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, and Web of Science using terms related to antiplatelet therapy and dental procedures. Clinical studies, reviews, and clinical guidelines addressing bleeding risk and clinical management were included. Results: Most dental procedures present low to moderate bleeding risk and can be performed without discontinuation of single or dual antiplatelet therapy. When bleeding occurs, it is typically mild and can be controlled with local hemostatic measures such as suturing, compression, and absorbable agents; tranexamic acid may be considered as an adjunctive measure when clinically appropriate. Patients receiving dual antiplatelet therapy require individualized assessment, particularly following recent coronary stent placement. Conclusions: Current evidence supports maintaining antiplatelet therapy during most dental procedures, emphasizing careful planning, atraumatic surgical techniques, and appropriate local hemostatic strategies.
