Abstract

Considering that floriculture is characterized by high profitability, job creation, and extensive use of technology, this study aims to investigate the spatial distribution and concentration of floriculture production centers in the state of Ceará, as well as evaluate the evolution of this aspect between 2006 and 2017, using descriptive statistics in addition to exploratory spatial data analysis, both applied to data made available by the IBGE from the latest Agricultural Censuses for the years of interest, i.e. 2006 and 2017. The results confirmed what the scarce literature on the subject describes, namely that production tends to be concentrated in six regions where the activity has historically developed, namely Ibiapaba, Cariri, Maciço do Baturité, Vales do Curu, and Aracatiaçu.
