The present work analyzes how the critical review of cultural manifestations - in focus the rap music style - contributes to a transdisciplinarity in the Law, avoiding the stifling of legal knowledge and its harmful consequences. Therefore, the paper is made through a discourse analysis of some rap lyrics, as well as the bibliographic review, made through consultations to scientific articles and books referring to the theoretical framework, which has as main exponents, besides the studies of Antonio Gramsci, the concepts formulated by Michel Foucault, and the theories of postmodern criminology. The study explores legal positivism and who are the “legitimate manufacturers” of this information in contrast to the owners of popular knowledge, who help build a democratic penal system. It is concluded that the opening of the law to other knowledge is essential, so that this even contributes to the analysis and combat of racism suffered by marginalized communities.
