Abstract

In the last years we have seen a renaissance of artistic manifestations with the theme of the so-called “zombie apocalypse”, a kind of destruction of institutions and societies by the attack a specific type of monster, a reborn dead moved by pure instinct, who feeds on the living. From video games to comic books, from home-made audio-visual works to Hollywood blockbusters. These monsters mobilize the most diverse audiences to reflect on their lives, to entertain themselves and to be frightened. Here we analyze two distinct works that deal cleverly with this subject in order to capitalize on the public’s interest on the subject, instead of actually explore the zombie theme in contemporary globalized societies.
