Conversations in Women Situations of Violence in Apodi/RN

Abstract

This article is part of the work of the dissertation research developed with women in situations of gender violence, in the city of Apodi/RN in 2016 and 2017. Based on semi-structured inteviews, this article brings conversations with women in the form Discourse of Collective Subject, a data analysis technique that seeks to understand how individual representations reflect collective representations, gathered in order to express what the collectivity thinks. Reproduced in the speeches of social actors by their aggregations and categorization, the tool enables the understanding of the investigated reality, understanding social practices as a social game where collective representations reveal each person’s ways of acting and thinking. Thus, it was possible to conclue that the dominant gender discourses act in power relations and composse the elements that legitimize and naturalize gender violence.
