LAWFARE AS A RESEARCH AGENDA
TRANSDISCIPLINARITY AS A STRATEGY FOR APPROACHING CONTEMPORARY CRISIS(S)

In this article, we propose to extend the reflection on lawfare as an interpretive vector for certain contemporary crises: those manifested around the “crisis of Democracy” and the “crisis of the State”. While the term lawfare has always been subject to scrutiny regarding its nature and precision—a circumstance that has also allowed it to expand as a “semantic space”—this article will attempt to pinpoint its hermeneutical value for understanding contemporary problems. lawfare, due to the particularity of the phenomenon it describes, presupposes, first and foremost, an understanding of the legal and penal sphere. But it also implies knowing, investigating, and applying knowledge related to Geopolitics, the logic of corporations, real corruption and the narrative of corruption (specifically anchored in politics and the public sphere); it invites us to observe current media and their shift to other platforms; and even to consider maps of energy transitions on the planet and the development of geological prospects. It is in this sense that lawfare becomes a perspective of study - a “research agenda” - that is crucial for understanding some central aspects of the ongoing global transformations.
