Interconnections of the spoken voice and the singing voice for the actor: concepts, study and reflection.

Abstract

The voice is an individual element of each person and a powerful element in theatrical characterization, the singing voice is also part of theatrical training. In this study we intend to study the connection between the singing voice and the spoken voice, their influences, the identical factors and their interconnections. To better understand the interconnections, the reference authors of both vocal fields were analyzed in the criteria of projection, articulation and breathing. A group of students of the drama department was used as an object of study, applying singing voice and speaking voice methodologies.
