Abstract

The text “Under the Shadow of a Diagnosis” explores the author's personal journey in discovering autism, addressing the emotional, social, and artistic crossings that emerge from this process. It is based on the concept of the "double" described by Sigmund Freud and the symbolism of shadows discussed by Véronique Perruchon in the book “Blecaute.” Using the metaphor of the shadow as a space of both pain and illumination, the author narrates the transformation of symptoms into creative expression through music, photo-performance, and poetry. By revisiting diagnoses such as ADHD, OCD, and schizophrenia, the narrative reveals the challenges of clinical labeling and how art can become a path for recognition and healing.
