The Concept of Sustainable Entrepreneurship suggested as a Management Approach for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises

This academic and critical review was written as part of an extension project belonging to the Programa de Extensão DEGECAR / UFRRJ, aimed at the academic community, especially undergraduate students of the Administration course at Adm.CEDERJ and DCAd.UFRRJ, under the supervision of tenured professors of the course. The review presented in this article was prepared based on an international scientific article, published in the Journal of Business Research, a traditional journal in the area of business, entrepreneurship and executive decisions, indexed by the Scopus database. Why publish reviews? Reviews are excellent agile and analytical scientific instruments to produce, socialize and share instructive study materials for academic and professional environments, highlighting the main points of a work, saving resources for its readers (Calvosa, 2022; 2021). An academic and critical review aims to interpret a bibliographic or scientific publication with the aim of generating discussions, insights, or even the decision to consume the original work itself (Calvosa, 2020). The work is relevant for undergraduate and graduate students because it presents innovative concepts and knowledge frontiers. It also presents a data analysis methodology, present in the original work, which is related to the Sustainable Development Goals of United Nations. It also brings reflections and provocations about changes in mentality and career constructions that allow professionals to be attentive to collectivist, global issues, environmental protection and the local ecosystem. The consumption of the work is relevant to present and promote the inclusion of sustainable practices in small and medium-sized companies as contemporary concerns of the 21st century.
