Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The texts for submission must to be written in Portuguese or English, texts in Portuguese after being approved must be translated into English so that they can be published in both languages. We request a declaration of translation of the articles.
  • The works to be submitted to REGNE must be original and unpublished.
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word.
  • Manuscript formatted without identification of authorship (guarantee to blind evaluation) with a maximum of 40,000 characters (with spaces).
  • Manuscript to follow guidelines in the topic "GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS" in the "
    SUBMISSIONS" and be formatted within the journal template.
  • Manuscript titles, as well as abstracts, must be written in two languages: Portuguese and English.
  • Addresses should be included as active text (ex: http://www.ufrn.br).
  • Submissions of the same article to other publishing vehicles is not permitted.
  • The author is entirely responsible for the content of the article.
  • REGNE submits sent documents to an academic peer review process (double-blind).
  • Indication of the ORCID ID and link to the Lattes Curriculum (for Brazilian authors).
  • A statement of commitment to the magazine's policies must be sent.

Author Guidelines

RESENTATION OF PAPERS

- The paper must be given title, full names for all the authors, academic title, institution and author’s e-mail address.

- Manuscript must be formatted within the journal template:

Title of the paper: A paper must have a short, straightforward title directed at the general reader. It should be brief and sufficiently specific and containing the key words. The title must be in Portuguese, Spanish and English.

Abstract: The work must be accompanied by a abstract (200 words), briefly and clearly describing the main objects and results of the work. It must be translated into Portuguese, Spanish and English.

Acknowledgment: Contributors can be thanked in a separate paragraph at the end of the article, which should be as brief as possible.

Graphic materials: The graphics and photographs must be legible and clear to the reader and provided in jpg format (black and white or color).  They must be indicated by serial number. If the illustrations submitted have already been published, mention the source.

Charts and Tables: Charts and Tables are essential to understanding the communication. They must be accompanied header in order to understand the meaning of the information without reference to the text, according to the up dated rules of tabular presentation of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistic - IBGE. They also have their own sequential numbering for each type and their locations must be marked in the text, indicating the order number.

STANDARD OF PAPER

Papers must be submitted to the ABNT standards: NBR-10520 (information and documentation - quotation – presentation) and NBR- 6023 (information and documentation – reference – elaboration) from August 2002.

GENERAL PRESENTATION RULES

- The author's last name must be in lowercase when it appears directly in the text. When in parentheses, it must be capitalized.

Example:

Bird (2008) demarcates again coastline to the maximum limit of action of the waves in high tide, which can be in the base of cliffs or in the limit of the appearance of dunes or even to the limit of dry land.

Durante a década de 1970 Edmon Nimer e sua equipe no Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE) propuseram um modelo metodológico de classificação de climas baseado na “necessidade de conjugar métodos tradicionais a métodos dinâmicos” (NIMER, 1979, p.75), ou seja, levando em considerações as normais do clima em conjunção com uma classificação genético-dinâmica de climas zonais e regionais.

 

- Specify in the text the page, volume or section of the source consulted, when in direct quotation marks. They must follow the date, separated by a comma. In paraphrases, the indication of the pages consulted is optional.

Example:

Usualmente é atribuída maior relevância ao fenômeno da brisa marítima, pois esta costuma carregar umidade do oceano para o interior do continente até distâncias de cerca de 300 km. Ao contrário, a brisa terrestre costuma provocar precipitações sobre o oceano. Entretanto, em estudo clássico Kousky (1980) percebeu que áreas costeiras do NEB (especialmente no trecho oriental) experimentam o máximo de precipitação no período noturno (entre 21h e 9h no horário local). Isso ocorreria “devido à convergência entre o fluxo médio de ar próximo à superfície procedente do oceano, e o fluxo superficial do continente para o mar devido à brisa terrestre” (TEIXEIRA, 2008, p. 283). Nas áreas entre 150-300 km para o interior, o máximo de precipitação seria registrado entre 15h e 21h local.

 

- Direct quotes of up to three lines must be placed in quotation marks.

Example:

A concavidade de trechos do litoral setentrional no NEB faz com que a convergência em baixos níveis da brisa terrestre com os ventos sinóticos (Alísios de sudeste) origine uma frente de brisa “no oceano, que dá origem em geral, a nuvens dispostas na forma de um grande arco com concavidade contrária à concavidade da costa” (TEIXEIRA, 2008, p. 287).

 

- More than three lines of direct quotation must be highlighted with a space of 1 cm from the left margin using a smaller letter than the one used in the main text.

Example:

A respeito do trabalho do cientista russo, Rodrigues (2001, p. 73) comenta:

Os geossistemas, embora sejam considerados "fenômenos naturais", devem ser estudados à luz dos fatores econômicos e sociais que influenciam sua estrutura. Os geossistemas podem refletir parâmetros sociais e econômicos que influenciam importantes conexões em seu interior. Essas influências antropogênicas podem representar o estado diverso do geossistema em relação ao seu estado original. Esse estado derivado muitas vezes pode ser mantido por meio de outras intervenções técnicas, também passíveis de reconhecimento.

 

CALL SYSTEM

- Citations must be indicated in the text by a call system author-data.

- When the author's name and the responsible institution are part of the sentence, you must indicate the date and page in parentheses (direct quote).

Example:

De acordo com Melo, Cavalcanti e Souza (2009, p. 26):

Um conjunto de variáveis meteorológicas que atua sobre a faixa equatorial dos oceanos pode definir a ZCIT, a saber: a Zona de Convergência dos Alísios (ZCA), a região do cavado equatorial, as áreas de máxima Temperatura da Superfície do Mar (TSM) e de máxima convergência de massa, e a banda de máxima cobertura de nuvens convectivas.

 

- Citations of different texts by the same author and published in the same year are distinguished by the addition of letters in alphabetical order after a date without space, according to the reference list.

Example:

O porto serviria para escoar além do sal outros produtos dos sertões do Ceará, Paraíba e Rio Grande do Norte, mas a plataforma continental bastante rasa não abrigaria navios de grande porte (FEMENICK, 2007d) e o projeto foi abandonado.

A Rede Ferroviária Federal S/A quis construir uma linha ferroviária ligando Areia Branca e Macau a Natal, a fim de embarcar a produção de sal das fozes dos rios Açu e Mossoró pelo porto de Natal, o que também não vingou (FEMENICK, 2007e).

Outra solução aventada foi a construção de ilhas artificiais, uma nas proximidades de Macau e outra próxima a Areia Branca (FEMENICK, 2007d), mas as limitações financeiras e a maior força política de Mossoró levaram a construção de um só Porto-Ilha, que ficaria nas cercanias marítimas de Areia Branca

 

- Paraphrases by different authors and documents listed simultaneously must be separated by semicolons in alphabetical order.

Example:

The coast in the State of Sergipe has no record of erosion problems on its beaches (BITTENCOURT; OLIVEIRA; DOMINGUEZ, 2006; DOMINGUEZ et al., 2016; DOMINGUEZ; GUIMARÃES; BITTENCOURT, 2018), but in the last decade there has been a significant reduction of its sandy beaches in some stretches.

- References must be aligned to the left margin of the text in a single space and separated by 8pt spacing.

- The feature bold typeface used to highlight the title element.
