The municipality of Baía Formosa is located on the east coast of Rio Grande do Norte state, Brazil, and is part of a sequence of beaches forming bays in the shape of a "Z". This research aims to characterize the geo-environmental aspects of the area with a focus on a sedimentological analysis, composed of granulometric analysis, carbonate and organic matter content, as there are no studies of this nature for the location. The geo-environmental characterization addresses the geological, geomorphological, edaphic, climatological and socioeconomic aspects, focusing on data obtained for the municipality of Baía Formosa/RN, which houses the locations where the twelve (12) samples were collected for sedimentological analysis, always on the beach strip that, in turn, demonstrates notable uniformity of medium-grained sands, mostly of diameters between 0.250mm and 0.350mm, justifying the classification of exposed reflective beach, facilitating the removal of finer sediments more constantly. Carbonate and organic matter content analysis follows a certain uniformity, but graphical analysis shows slightly differentiated trends among the collection points, indicating different sediment curve trends, kurtosis and selection. The study may, in addition to complementing the knowledge about the region, serve as the starting point for possible continuous monitoring.
