Domestic violence against women was already a worrisome reality and became even more serious during the social isolation policy adopted during the Covid-19 pandemic. In face of the dizzying increase in complaints reported by national and international human rights and women's protection institutions, this article seeks to investigate the impact of the health crisis caused by the virus Sars-Cov-2 pandemic on the recrudescence of domestic violence against women, listing for that purpose the possible causes that potentiate the phenomenon and the Brazilian public policies implemented in order to fight against it. Through bibliographic review and data analysis, it was concluded that for the effective coping of the problem, domestic violence against women must be interpreted not only as a criminal issue, the solution of which lies only in the application of sanctioning measures to the aggressors, but also as a public health issue, which can be solved through search of an intersectoral, multidisciplinary and intersectional approach.
