This study aims to evaluate the efficiency of the economic-financial companies of the IGC, showing an overview of the governance practices adopted by companies and evaluating how much corporate governance can influence the efficiency of a company. We analyzed the efficiency of 98 companies active during period 2008 to 2010 in the IGC, members of New Market, using data collected from its financial statements. To evaluate the efficiency, we adopted the Data envelopment analysis (DEA), the CCR model, output oriented. We also analyzed the financial and economic productivity of companies through the Malmquist index. The efficiency scores and productivity were obtained by SIAD ® software and DEAP ®. The results show that most of the companies analyzed were not considered efficient in economic and financial analysis period. Through Data envelopment analysis, the CCR model was confirmed efficiency of 16 companies, 3 of these companies were efficient in the years 2008 to 2010. Application of Malmquist index showed that 86% of companies had a boom in productivity between the years 2008 and 2009, while that between the years 2009 and 2010 there was a drop in productivity by 63% of companies.
