Jack London e a homossociabilidade em Antes de Adão
Abstract
The aim of our work is an analysis of homosociability in the American writer Jack London's novel Before Adam (1907), known, among other things, for his tough-guy characteristics. To this end, we make a brief discussion of the concept of homosociality as developed by the American theorist Eve Sedgwick. Based on this concept, we analyze the relationship between the two main male characters in the novel. This analysis reveals a kind of homosociality between the two main characters that is characterized by great companionship, but in which there is also an underlying eroticism. Although it is not an aspect developed in our work, we can advance that this is a pattern that is repeated in other novels by the American writer.
