Multidisciplinary team assistance to children with burns-related infection

Objective: To identify in the scientific literature the role of the multidisciplinary team on children with infection related to the burn process. Methodology: Literature review. The bibliographic survey was carried out in LILACS, SciELO, and PubMed databases. Descriptors (DeSC): Burns. Infection. Nursing care. Multidisciplinary. The Boolean operator AND was used for crossing the descriptors, Inclusion criteria: articles available and in full in the databases, that adhered to the title, objective and that answered the guiding question, within the established years, in Portuguese and English. Duplicate articles, conference proceedings, that did not adhere to the study outside the established years were excluded. Full articles were selected, with text available online, published between 2013 and 2021. Initially, 71 articles were identified, and after analyzing and applying the inclusion criteria, 7 studies comprised the final sample. Results: Infectious complications from burns accounted for more than 70% of deaths in burn patients. In critically ill patients, pneumonia is the most common systemic infection due to extensive burns, wound infections, phlebitis, aspiration, aspiration, tracheotomy, and sepsis. The data also show that about 77% of burns occur in the home environment, with a good part of this percentage coming from the affected children's area, which makes research on the subject worrying and emphasizes the need to prevent these causes, as they a occurrence of will increase the possibility of infection. Conclusion: Burns are an important public health problem, affecting 2 million people worldwide, of which 1 million are affected in Brazil. The assistance of a multidisciplinary team is extremely important. Infection is one of the biggest causes of death from burns, and this prevention is vital for the quality of care and patient improvement.
