This article aims to present theoretical reflections on the emotions and socialization of children in kindergarten, discuss empirical inferences of these variables and report experiences of undergraduate students in a PIBIC project. The methodology has two moments. In the first, a bibliographical review of articles is carried out, in the references and in the authors that discuss the variables treated here. Then, data is collected with children and/or teachers in kindergarten schools, and, through participant observation, data are described to explain the emotional and social phenomena. The results are preliminary and suggest that emotions operate to facilitate interactions between children and, through socialization, a wide range of emotional states is achieved. Children seek horizontal socialization processes, not imposed by adults. Finally, it highlights how important the participation of undergraduate students in research projects is.
