Abstract

This article aims to reflect the historical construction of inclusive education of people with disabilities. The research started from the perception that the inclusion of this public is not effective despite the fact that there are laws for its mandatory and in some cases what is observed is integration. For this purpose, the bibliographic research was applied in order to perform a literature review, seeking support in the definition of concepts and theoretical foundation; participant observation for data collection, analysis of the investigated reality and application of a questionnaire aimed at students with disabilities from the School of Music of UFRN. A reflection was made based on my experience in the Extension Project Esperança Viva. As a result, the participants' actions were perceived in order to break the barrier of invisibility of people with disabilities before society, making them no longer integrated, but included.
