Based on the history of Extension and the concepts of Distance Education, this experience report analyzes the application of digital tools in the 2021 edition of Aproxime-se, an extension program of the UFMG Distance Education Support Center. The activities in this edition were carried out remotely, with the support of common digital tools and educational digital tools available on the web used in distance education. The program's four projects were developed by conducting research, meetings, courses, setting up environments and organizing online events. Our analysis highlights the importance of digital tools for the development of actions, which resulted in good quantitative and qualitative indices and a positive impact on the communities served and on the academic community.
