ABSTRACT
This paper has an exploratory-descriptive character and presents an experience as a volunteer in the Sustainable Actions Program for Cariri (PASCAR), an extension initiative linked to the campus of the Federal University of Campina Grande, in Sumé-PB. The project's activities promote education for soil conservation and sustainable food production through dialogical and participatory methodologies with schools and rural communities. In this context, university extension is configured as a formative space that stimulates critical, reflective, humanized, and civic learning. The extension experience enables the university to engage with local realities, overcoming the dualistic logic between theory and practice. Thus, the experience highlights the transformative role of extension in student formation and the promotion of contextualized and socially committed knowledge.
