Adolescence is a stage in the life cycle during which individuals face the task of developing and solidifying their personal and social identity. Sharing scientific knowledge about social phenomena with young people is a strategic way to invest in more just and democratic societies. This study aimed to present an experience report of a social intervention with adolescents from the Youth Apprenticeship Program, focusing on empathy, prejudice, and diversity, integrating teaching, research, and outreach at a private university in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre. The experience demonstrated the potential of outreach activities as a space for civic education and awareness of values such as respect and inclusion, and it seems to have contributed to the critical, holistic, and socially committed development of the students, teachers, and researchers involved. Furthermore, the initiative reinforced the inseparability of teaching, research, and outreach as a key foundation of Brazilian higher education.
