In 2019 and 2020, we’ve coordinated two Extension projects that focused on the anti-racist theme at (name of the project site). The projects had as methodological basis the analysis of the literature of black Brazilian female writers. This article is the result of reflections coming from the projects on the importance of these women in the anti-racist struggle. We argue that there is a black female literary tradition that started with the writing of Carolina Maria de Jesus, herself preceded by other black writers who sowed the seed of this tradition. We argue that, from Carolina's writing, a black feminine aesthetic is created that is based on breaking the silencing imposed on black women in our country. Our hypothesis is that the powerful writing of black Brazilian women presents itself as a driving force in the fight against racism.
