BUILDING A THOUGHT AGAINST DENIALISM

Abstract

This article proposes a reflection on the relationship of the artist, in particular, the doers of theatrical art, and its potentialities in the face of the denialist wave that has been spreading in Brazil and annihilating the identity of his nation. Therefore, at the same time, this work also discusses the value that memory, and history, have on the construction of the identity of an individual and, intrinsically, of a people. In this context, the artist-memory emerges, the result of an idea developed from the master's research in Performing Arts, deepening the thinking about the marks and transformations that art can produce in this current context. Having as theoretical reference the ideas of the sociologist Maurice Halbwachs, in a dialogue with the contemporary thoughts of Michael Pollak, in addition to the contributions of historian Pierre Nora, with regard, mainly, the concept of "man-memory", the artist-memory is the reaffirmation that it is necessary to look at the past, to memories, with the aim not only of understanding the present, but also to create, consciously, the future.
