RELAÇÃO DOS EFEITOS DOS PREBIÓTICOS E DOS PROBIÓTICOS NA PATOGÊNESE DA ANSIEDADE

Introduction: Anxiety is a disorder characterized by intense, excessive, persistent worry and fear of everyday situations, being a mental disorder with high prevalence worldwide. There is a link between anxiety and the intestinal microbiota, and research shows that the use of prebiotics and probiotics can be studied as an alternative therapy for pathological anxiety. Objective: This integrative review aims to search for scientific studies that present the potential beneficial effects of prebiotics and probiotics on anxiety. Methodology: To select the studies, the following databases were used: Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), Online Medical Literature Analysis and Recovery System (Medline), PubMed and Virtual Health Library (VHL). ), bringing original articles from the last 5 years. Results: The administration of some prebiotics and probiotics, such as Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus, for a pre-defined period, showed that their use has beneficial effects in reducing levels of pathological anxiety and can be effective in patients who have some associated comorbidity, such as obesity. , Alzheimer’s, diabetes. Conclusions: The results found by the studies demonstrated that after using prebiotics and probiotics for a certain period of time, positive results were achieved in reducing anxiety symptoms.
