Introduction: Cinematographic resources have been important pedagogical tools that act in an instructive, analytical and practical way, as suggested by the National Curricular Guidelines for the 2014 Undergraduate Course in Medicine. In medical training, cinema allows students to reformulate pre-existing humanist principles, fundamental to interpersonal relationships, in favor of the well-being of patients, communities and territories. Objective: The aim is to present an experience report on the active methodology used with students in the mandatory curricular internship in public health at a private Higher Education Institution, located in the interior of the state of Minas Gerais, in accordance with the approach to the theme of sustainable territorial development. Methodology: Active documentary analysis and reflection methodology was used in medical undergraduate classes. An oral discussion was held with approximately ten students from the Collective Health Internship class and it was proposed to write a review, containing reflections on sustainable territories and collective health. Results: The relationship between sustainability, democracy, human rights, social justice and quality of life was highlighted, arguing that these elements boost citizenship and combat inequalities and environmental degradation. After reflecting on the documentary, the use of tools such as Mindfulness to help raise awareness about consumption, avoiding waste, was discussed. Conclusions: The use of the aforementioned cinematic resource as an active methodology revealed the importance of raising awareness among future doctors about sustainability and social equity.
