Abstract

Introduction: Primary health care (PHC) professionals play an important role in the Assistance Network for Women in Situations of Violence, which, depending on the assistance, women can follow different assistance flows. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the assistance flows for women in situations of violence in PHC. Methods: It was a qualitative, exploratory-descriptive research carried out in a city in the interior of Piauí, Brazil, with five professionals working in that network, specifically in the context of PHC. Semi-structured interviews were conducted between November and December 2019. The analysis procedures included the Thematic Content Analysis proposed by Minayo and the use of flowchart analysis. Results: It was verified the difficulty in performing matrix support among the PHC teams and that professionals are less prepared to identify psychological and other types of violence, other than physical violence. The assistance flows were evidenced when they mentioned the services that were part of the referrals and how they accessed them. Conclusions: Despite accessing the network services through a telephone call to share cases, there are no unified referral criteria in PHC units, with predefined flowcharts, conducts, or protocols.
