The social name as an inclusion factor of transsexual and tranvestite students in the EPT
Abstract
The text problematises the procedures of the regulation for the right
of transsexual people to use the social name proposed by the Conselho
Superior do Instituto Federal do Espírito Santo (IFES) in order
to guarantee the right to education and to promote welcoming and
inclusive environment for the LGBTQI community (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual,
Tranvestite, Transexual, Queer and Intersexual). The gender and
sexuality studies together with the field work production and education
are taken as a theoretical basis. Methodologically, the contribution of
qualitative and documentary research techniques (HELDER, 2006)
and the indiciario method (GINZBURG, 1989) are used. The study’s
expectation is to contribute to the visibility of the gender identity and

sexual orientation related problems at IFES and to promote the creation
of nuclei of Gender and Sexuality studies in the campi of the Institute.
