Abstract

Gender and sexuality are dimensions of the human, therefore, an education from the perspective of integral human formation must consider the need to include gender discussion in school. However, the inclusion of the theme in the curriculum, even in high school, is still controversial, although there is no impediment in the guidelines for this level of education. The debate has involved several social segments, but it is not common for the young students to be heard on the issue. Contrary to the invisibility of youths in school environment, this article discusses the results of a research with young high school students in a public school about how they access the subject and what they think about the school discussing them. The data indicate that students, for the most part, access the subject through conversation between friends and defend the gender discussion in school.
