ANALYSIS OF PUBLIC AND PRIVATE INVESTMENTS IN ENERGY SECTOR PIAUÍ

Abstract

Companies, being public or private, need to invest in new ventures to become competitive and maximize profits and generate benefits. Investments and analyze it is necessary to choose future options that allow measuring whether it will yield good returns for the company. This article aims to study the analytical tools of public and private projects, based on data from the mixed economy company that manages and operates the energy sector in Piauí, and review the literature on these important tools for investment analysis. The methodology of the article is based on a study of the company that in addition to investing in projects of collective interest, is also concerned with maximizing profit for its shareholders. We found that the company releasing relatively manipulation of political power and private projects on the agenda and implemented its decisions relating to the scope of its social and economic externalities. We conclude that the criteria associated primarily social returns and system efficiency through projects that reduce energy losses and provide conditions for local development.
