Abstract

The reflections that weave this writing result from the master's thesis entitled Memories of students graduated from the Application Gymnasium of the Catholic Faculty of Philosophy of Sergipe (1960-1968), which through oral sources analyzed how the feeling of belonging was constituted in the discourse produced by students graduated from the Application Gymnasium of the Catholic Faculty of Philosophy of Sergipe in the period between 1960 and 1968. The theme chosen follows the research line "History of Education" of the Graduate Program in Education of the Federal University of Sergipe (PPGED - UFS), linked to the thematic axis of works that seek to produce understandings about the history and memory of educational institutions. The main objective of the research was to understand the perceptions of students who graduated from the Application Gymnasium of the Catholic Faculty of Philosophy of Sergipe on the educational and cultural practices experienced throughout their school careers, between 1960 and 1968. The work was inserted in the field of Cultural History and had as theoretical contribution Chartier (1990), from the concepts of appropriation, representations and practices, based on Bosi (1994) and Pollak (1992), regarding the concept of memory and identity; Julia (2001), with regard to the conception of school culture; and bourdieu (2002; 2007) regarding the concepts of cultural capital and cultural reproduction in the field of symbolic struggles. The methodology of Thematic Oral History was used, based on Alberti (2013), Meihy and Holanda (2015) and Meihy and Ribeiro (2011), establishing accounts of memories as the main source of the research. This study uses as a source eight interviews of the audiovisual collection of the Center for Research, Documentation and Memory of the College of Application (Cemdap), resulting from the implementation of the project "Perceptions of reality": Memories of students graduated from the College of Application (1960-1995); and eight carried out by the author of this research. Finally, it was demonstrated that the research contributed to preserve the institutional historical and cultural heritage and that the narratives constituted sources of knowledge so that they do not fall into oblivion, thus allowing a greater perception of reality.
