Abstract

COVID-19 is a disease caused by the new coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, which has a high rate of dissemination, especially through aerosols released by infected people. Therefore, as a preventive measure, several entities have determined the mandatory use of face masks, inducing or more frequent use and for longer periods. In this context, this study sought to identify the main dermatoses associated with the prolonged use of face masks, as well as to highlight the aspects that influenced the development of these disorders. From an integrative literature review, 15 articles were selected. After analyzing the papers, it was possible to identify that the most common skin alterations were itching, contact dermatitis, acne and erythema, especially when using the N95 mask, since the most evaluated public involved health professionals. The adoption of personal care is necessary to avoid the appearance of these alterations in more serious levels.
