Abstract

The present study aimed to describe, through primary data from the scientific literature, the long-term impacts generated by the Covid-19 pandemic on health care. This is an integrative review of the literature with an exploratory and descriptive character. For its applicability, descriptors registered in DeCS/MeSH were linked by the Boolean operators “AND/OR” and applied in PubMed through Medline, LILACS, Science Direct and BDENF. Cross-sectional, retrospective, longitudinal, prospective cohort and ambidirectional studies published in a 2-year time frame (2020 and 2021) were included. After a thorough analysis of the titles and abstracts, 14 were selected using the adopted eligibility criteria. As a result, patients who needed professional health care, especially those with comorbidities and advanced ages, had to adapt to virtual means during the pandemic period, which increased the aggravation of systemic diseases present in these individuals. Covid-19 symptoms such as muscle pain and extreme fatigue remained for up to 35 days after hospital discharge. It is suggested that new support and rehabilitation measures be implemented to promote comprehensive care for patients under medical supervision in pandemic times.
