Palliative care as a social worker's field of action

Abstract

This article aims to theoretically reflect on the interventions and insertion of Social Workers in Palliative Care teams - Cps. In addition, to contribute to the debate on Social Work and Palliative Care in Brazil. We have as a guiding question ''what is the role of Social Workers in Palliative Care teams?'' This study is the product of the experience obtained in carrying out the Supervised Internship in Social Work held at the University Hospital Lauro Wanderley-HULW, in the Intensive Care Unit in year 2020, but it was improved and updated in the year 2022, through the main results obtained, we list unquestionable relevance of the performance of the Social Work professional in the multidisciplinary teams of the Cps. As a methodology, exploratory research in the bibliographic scope of the type of narrative and document review was used, at the end of this article some recommendations for future studies were suggested, the little scientific production on the subject and the need to expand this debate within the scope of the profession was also a relevant factor for the choice of theme.
