Healing action of Libidibia ferrea M.: an integrative review
Keywords:
Healing; Caesalpinia; herbal medicineAbstract
The use of herbal substances has been used for thousands of years, being part of the wisdom and common sense of different communities. Within this topic, it is worth mentioning Libidibia ferrea M, also known as jucá or pau-ferro, currently widely studied in the healing process of cutaneous tissue, however, with multiple medicinal uses. Therefore, the present work aims to evaluate the healing activity of jucá through an integrative review. For data collection, the databases Latin American Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO), Medical Literature System Online Analysis (MEDLINE), PubMed, Web of Science and ScienceDirect were used. . To aid in the search, the descriptors “caesalpinia” and “cicatrização” were applied, using the Boolean operator “AND”. The evaluation of the information occurred in a descriptive way, confronting it with the relevant findings. After applying the selection criteria applied to the research, the final sample consisted of 10 articles, 03 articles in SCIELO, 04 articles via Pubmed, 02 articles indexed in Science Direct and 01 indexed in Web of Science. In this study, it was noticed that there is still a shortage of publications regarding the healing activity of the aforementioned plant, but it is a research that is on the rise. From the interpretation of the selected articles, a healing potential of the plant in question was observed. However, further assays to elucidate mechanisms are essential.
