Role of primary health care in reducing maternal mortality: Integrative review
Keywords:
Maternal mortality, Primary health care, Health strategiesAbstract
Maternal mortality is a global health problem that involves the death of women during pregnancy, childbirth or postpartum. Primary health care plays a crucial role in reducing this index, being responsible for ensuring adequate care. The study aimed to analyze the role of primary care in reducing maternal mortality. Through an integrative review, carried out in the BDENF, LILACS, MEDLINE, SciElo and Web of Science databases, the descriptors used were "maternal mortality" AND "primary care", combined with the Boolean operator "AND", resulting in 11 articles. The studies highlighted the diversity of approaches and geographical contexts, interventions included home visits, health education, routine consultations, monitoring the health of pregnant women and teamwork. These actions aim to identify women at risk early, raise awareness about the importance of prenatal care and provide specialized care when necessary.
