Either passing the baton or selling business: succession dilemma in family businesses

Based on real experiences that authors lived, this case aims to discuss succession in family businesses and has as its dilemma the decision to passing the baton to the next generation or selling the business to third parties. The main characters of the case are the founder, Engineer Mario, and his daughter Mariana. It addresses the impasse of a not planned succession due to health issues. The background theory to understand the current situation of the company and guide the decision of the dilemma is the life cycle one.
