This article makes a discursive analysis of the perception of the discipline Sociology among students of the 3rd year of high school in a public school in Piaui. It was based on the theoretical assumption that Sociology should problematize the student’s life, its existence in the real world, with its implications in the various fields of life. As a result of the research from course conclusion, his problem was: what is the perception that the students of the 3rd year of the High School Baron de Gurgueia have about the discipline Sociology? To analyze aspects involved in this problem, the methodology used consisted of an approach that involved the qualitative research, with interviews made among the students, and as a method of interpretation the content analysis. The results found in the fi eld of research revealed that some students have a certain understanding about what the object of Sociology is in school while others do not understand it. In the same way, some of them believe that the discipline dialogues with their daily lives, but, differently, another part does not identify this interaction between Sociology and its social experiences. Thus, curricular contextualization is still a fundamental challenge in the teaching of Sociology.
