PAISAGENS NA GEOGRAFIA DE ESTRABÃO:
o caso de Alexandria

A Geografia de Estrabão (I a.C.-I d.C.) é uma descrição do mundo afro eurasiático antigo. Dentre as corografias que compõem os quinze livros da obra é na última que observamos a descrição do que hoje denominamos como norte e nordeste da África e, especificamente, o relato sobre Alexandria. Dentre as abordagens que podem ser feitas na análise do texto, a espacial se destaca por dialogar com o foco temático da obra, isto é, o espaço geográfico. Destarte, consideramos que a instrumentalização de conceitos espaciais como “lugar”, de Yi-Fu Tuan (1983), e, particularmente, “paisagem”, de Tim Ingold (2000; 2015), pode ampliar a perspectiva sobre a fonte histórica. Portanto, abordamos o caso da cidade de Alexandria para apresentarmos como se efetiva a interpretação do texto a partir da paisagem.
