DIVULGAÇÃO CIENTÍFICA E ENTRETENIMENTO DURANTE A PANDEMIA DE COVID-19 - Relato de experiência

Abstract

This article reports the experience of a science outreach activity carried out during the mitigation period of the COVID-19 pandemic, in which measures of social distancing were necessary. During the month of April 2020, an “insect movie marathon” was held with 15 films of various genres, following an online movie-and-discussion format. The main objectives were to promote critical dialogue about the species represented in the popular media, to demystify their image as harmful and undesirable beings, and to offer the general public an option for educational entertainment during the period. Discussions were promoted through social networks and video synchronization platforms that allowed online chatting. Although the engagement was modest, the experiment was successful as a starting point for a further-reaching initiative.
