DESCARTE DE MEDICAMENTOS DE USO DOMICILIAR VENCIDOS E/OU EM DESUSO EM UMA COMUNIDADE ESCOLAR DE BELO HORIZONTE

The disposal of expired and/or out-of-use residential drugs is a concern for both the public health and the environment. In Brazil there are rules for health services waste management. However, few studies are dedicated to the assessment of how residential products should be discarded by population. This article presents a discussion about the importance of the correct disposal of solid waste, with a focus on the disposal of medicines, and the role that environmental education plays in this process. This extension action was carried out in a school community in Belo Horizonte/MG, between july and october of 2020. After acquiring data through questionnaires, an educational campaign was carried out seeking to guide the population about the importance of the theme and the environmental and human health problems caused by the incorrect disposal of medicines.
