This article seeks to point out intrinsic relationships in the works of writers César Aira (1949) and Sérgio Sant’Anna (1941-2020), two names that make up the panorama of Latin American literature in the second half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century. His works, which are guided by the short form (the short story, the novel, the essay), seek to bend the limits of genres and bring into the literary text several other narrative forms that influence his writings and interpenetrate in his techniques: the plastic arts, cinema, photography, music appear in his texts as elements for the construction of his visions of the world. With careful reading of the critical fortune of both authors, in addition to own texts and comments that an author has over the other, we tried to establish and discuss approach points regarding the handling of the techniques of the avant-garde of the twentieth century, in a possible game endless.
