Abstract

The geodiversity quantification is an important tool to distinguish locations that are more or less geodiverse. This article aims to apply a geodiversity index in the Ubajara National Park. The methodology starts from the theoretical review and cartographic data. Later, we employ a quantification method in a national scale and build thematic maps for better result exposition. The index demonstrates that the areas with greater diversity in the park central portion, a zone characterized by the geomorphological degree between the Ibiapaba Glint and the Sertaneja Surface. This discontinuity in the landscape has influence in the drainage net, soil configuration and morphological units.

Author Biographies

Suedio Alves Meira, Universidade Federal do Ceará-UFC

PhD in Geography from the Graduate Program in Geography at the Federal University of Ceara (UFC), with a sandwich period at the Universidad de Zaragoza (Spain) with a scholarship from the Institutional Internationalization Program (PRINT) of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel ( CAPES). In his thesis, he conducted research on the planning of the Geopatrimony of the Ubajara National Park, Ceará. Master in Geography from the State University of Ceará (UECE), with a dissertation on the Geological Heritage of the Jericoacoara National Park, Ceará. Bachelor's Degree in Geography from the Federal University of Western Bahia (UFOB), with two sandwich periods abroad, the first allocated in the Geography and Planning course at the University of Minho, Portugal (Bolsa Santander Luso-Brasileiro, 2012) and in the second allocated period in the Geology course, also at the University of Minho (Science without Borders Scholarship, 2012-2013). He is currently a substitute professor at the Federal Institute of Piauí (current campus). It presents affinity and works on themes related to Geopatrimony, Geodiversity, Geoconservation, Geotourism, Geomorphology, Geotechnology and Pedology.

Edson Vicente da Silva, Universidade Federal do Ceará

Degree in Geography - Bachelor's and Degree. from the State University of Ceará (1981), Master's in Rural Planning as a Function of the Environment from the Mediterranean Agronomy Institute of Zaragoza (1987), Ph.D. in Geography from the São Paulo State University Rio Claro São Paulo (1993), post-doctorate in Environmental Education from the Faculty of Education at the Federal University of Bahia (2006) and post-doctorate in Landscape Planning and Geoecology at the Faculty of Geography, University of Havana-Cuba (2007). He is currently a full professor at the Federal University of Ceará (1997), teaching experience at the Federal University of Bahia and professor of Doctorates and Masters in Geography and Development and Environment (PRODEMA), at the Federal University of Ceará. He has experience in the field of Landscape Geoecology, working mainly on the following topics: environmental analysis, environmental education, coastline, geoenvironmental analysis, water resources and sustainable development.
