“UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY WORK IN GENDER AND DIVERSITY

Organizers:

Elisete Schwade (Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil)

Miriam Pillar Grossi (Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil)

Recent deliberations have focused on university community work projects, particularly following the push for their integration into undergraduate curricular frameworks – termed "curricularization," as stipulated in CNE resolution 07/2018. This endeavor has prompted federal universities to engage in discussions surrounding guidelines, policies, and regulations, necessitating a clear delineation of the theoretical and methodological underpinnings of university community work. These dialogues unfold within a transformative university landscape, notably marked by the adoption of inclusive policies for students entering through affirmative action and the geographical expansion of public higher education through the establishment of new federal universities in more remote regions.

Given this political backdrop and acknowledging community work 's fundamental role as a space for fostering communication, dialogue, and interaction between academia and society, this dossier aims to explore the impact of community work programs on the education of students in anthropology, social sciences, law, and education. Beyond contemplating the repercussions of curricular shifts resulting from the integration of community work, this dossier seeks to scrutinize the nexus between university community work, educational public policies, and social movements encompassing feminism, LGBTQIA+ rights, Black, Indigenous, individuals with disabilities, and human rights. These explorations are grounded in experiences and situated learning in anthropology.
