The article describes a trajectory of sociological research in the field of Law, highlighting the lived experiences, the challenges faced and the learning acquired in this path. The method used for the elaboration of this text was the autoethnography of memories, supported by files, reports and databases of each research carried out in the period of memories from 2000 to 2021, about two decades of academic career. This research inventory focuses on criminal justice, human rights and crime. When analyzing this trajectory, I can say that I am the result of the conditions of possibility that were presented in the fields where I traveled and by the many references that I came across and that also inspired me to study these themes. Twenty years of research in the area of ??public security and criminal justice indicate that we continue with the same system of “grinding people”, imprisoning “suspects”, tolerating police extermination, pretending that we have justice based on the Democratic State of Law. Despite this, we need to continue our research, so that one day this system will finally be broken.
