This paper intends to outline initial dialogues about artisanal making and anthropology based on experiences with artisanal photography, specifically regarding the production of photographs using cyanotype as an analog technique for creating images. I draw this dialogue from the images produced during a doctoral thesis developed at PPGAS at UFRN, and which was later presented in the montage presenting the Pierre Verger Prize, year 2024, and these traveling images communicate about the transits of Latin American female travelers. I present how this process occurred in which crafts, photography and anthropology intersected in an artisanal-intellectual movement.
Keywords: Anthropology; handmade photography; cyanotype; Pierre Verger.
