INVESTMENT ANALYSIS OF TRANSPORTATION SEGMENT UNDER UNCERTAINTY AND RISK
Abstract
The displacement of the population in Brazilian cities has been accomplished largely by collective bus, which established itself as the main modality of transportation in the country. Thus, the paper aims to use the tools and concepts of engineering economics in order to analyze the viability of investment in creating a business of intercity transportation in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, in the city of Natal. The methods used for the evaluation were the Sensitivity Analysis, Scenario Analysis and Monte Carlo simulation, to understand the investment behavior under uncertainty and risk. Finally, it was revealed that the industry is in serious danger, if not clandestine surveillance in transport intensifies. However, in view of the prevailing economic conditions, the project demonstrates advantageous, requiring only 10% of own resources for the investment.
