Abstract

The small businesses have a number of peculiarities and challenges, especially in human resources management. This case describes a real situation of a company, Gastroprocto Day Hospital, which depicts the relationship between founder/director and its consequences in the policies and practices of human resources. The story is told from the point of view of an employee who observed the situation and the organization experienced a complex stage of a manager, the company's founder, whose acting training is in medicine. Furthermore, it shows their thoughts about the direction of the company, employee opinion, based on a survey conducted in 2011 by a student of Graduate and questioning on how to manage the contribution of its employees, particularly by recognizing the importance of human relationships for the future of this company. This case deals with the complexity of managing human resources in a company with a single manager.
