Effect of interventions on the objective reality of elderly people in primary care: experience report

Abstract

Population aging is a rapidly advancing global phenomenon, especially in developing countries like Brazil. Based on this reality, the present study aims to apply knowledge acquired in the classroom, particularly through interventions based on the Theory of Praxical Intervention in Community Health Nursing (TIPESC). Thus, the objective of this study is to describe the interventions carried out with the elderly population in a Family Health Center (FHC) in Sobral, Ceará. The study adopts a descriptive qualitative approach, using experience reports to offer interpretations of the studied phenomenon. Participants include individuals over 60 years old linked to the Expectativa FHC, without restrictions of color, gender, or economic class. Although the center serves approximately 1318 elderly individuals, of whom 764 are women and 554 are men in this age group, the team only had contact with a portion of this population due to the high number of individuals. Given this context of increasing elderly population, it is essential to reflect on the emerging new demands and produce materials that are closer to reality and promote reflection. The experience provided students with a deeper reflection on the role of professionals in the face of institutional reality.
