Epidemiological profile of new cases of botulism in Brazil between the years 2019-2022

This article aimed to describe the epidemiological profile of new cases of botulism in Brazil between 2019 and 2022. This is a direct source documentary research, an ecological study of a quantitative nature. During the evaluated period, a total of 29 (100%) new cases of botulism were diagnosed in Brazil, of which the majority occurred in 2019 in the northern region of the country, were in women (68.96%), who declared themselves white (51.72%) and aged between 40 and 59 years (41.37%). New cases of botulism were confirmed by laboratory tests (72.41%), achieved cure (44.89%), and contamination was through food (82.75%). The results show that botulism is a controlled infection in Brazil due to sanitary measures for good food handling and the effective action of regulatory agencies.
